Kasper was the first Maine Coon I bought. I was in England working as an au-pair, found an ad in a paper and went to look at the kittens. I was sold imediately, called my dad and he sent me all my saved money so I could bring Kasper with me home to Sweden. I had no idea of what kind of special breed it was, I just wanted a big, neutered boy... Back then, in 1988, I found out that Kasper was the 7th registred Maine Coon in Sweden. I took him to a catshow, and everybody was so curious about him, and the judge kept a small "show" comparing him to the Norweigan Forest Cats, that were very common. Someone said to me; -Why don´t you buy a couple of females, to get the breed going here in Sweden?" And that is what happened... Kasper accompanied me to many shows, and eventually he got the title EC. He became the father of my first litters, and he was always very nice to the kittens, and helped the mom to take care of them. He was very kind to everyone, and I never had to keep him separated from the other cats or the house. When he was 8 I neutered him, and the year after he moved in to a new family in Skellefteå, to start his new life as spoiled pensioneer. During autumn 2001, he started to get thin, and in Januari 2002 the vet. told us that it was better if we put him to sleep, the liver was not working at all. I will always remember him as my first beloved maine coon, and I will always keep him close, as I have a tattoo of him at my left arm!
